Julie Chen Moonves is the host of the 22nd season which premiered on CBS August 5, 2018. Chen Moonves served as the moderator and one of the original hosts on The Talk. She won a Daytime Emmy Award for her work. Her real passion came when she began writing and received an Emmy. She also won the Emmy for hosting and outstanding comedy talk show. The Talk examines contemporary events using the perspective of five hostesses. Chen Moonves hosted CBS News' early morning news broadcast The Early Show for a 10 years. Prior to that, Chen Moonves was the CBS Morning News' anchor as well as the news anchor for The Early Show. After the terrorist attacks on 9/11 Chen Moonves uncovered the father of the hijackers and their leader for a thrilling and exclusive interview. Chen Moonves's interviews include newsmakers including ex- New York City City mayor Rudy Giuliani; Queen Rania Jordanian, William Cohen (former Defense Secretary), and celebrities like Denzel Washington. Before The Early Show she was the reporter for WDTN TV Dayton in Dayton in the state of Ohio (1995-1997). Previous jobs included working as a reporter with ABC NewsOne, the network's associated news service (1992-1995) as well as a desk assistant for the ABC News' Los Angeles Bureau (1990-1991) and all the while finishing her last year of school at the University of Southern California. As a desk assistant, she worked for ABC News' Nightline program with Ted Koppel. Ted Koppel is as one of her journalist idols. Chen Moonves worked with Koppel on the Columbia du-Pont-winning primetime special, Anatomy of a Riot that examined the 1992 Los Angeles riots.
